In the  Church Saint Mary Magdalene in Brussels opened its doors on 13 September for a musical evening of remembrance and hope, dedicated to Artsakh and Artsakh Armenians.

According to the correspondent of “Armenpress” in Brussels, the leader of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Vrtanes Bishop Abrahamyan, was present in the evening.

In his address to the audience, the leader of the diocese mentioned that depopulated Artsakh is also a threatened thousand-year-old heritage with five thousand historical and cultural monuments.

“Today we have to record with pain that Artsakh is depopulated, our historical monuments are endangered. We have always said that Christianity in the South Caucasus begins and ends with Armenia and Artsakh.

The people of Artsakh have left a great legacy of millennia. According to our information, less than a year after the depopulation, Azerbaijan destroyed more than ten percent of those squatters.

Today, no one, including international organizations, has the opportunity to visit and see the situation on the spot.

Another important value of this geopolitical area is the people of Artsakh.

They left their homeland and today live in Armenia and abroad.

The people of Artsakh are the bearers of a thousand-year-old culture, dialect and traditions, which are endangered today, because the people of Artsakh do not have the opportunity to live together comprehensively.

The people of Artsakh want to return to their native land, only and only on the condition that they are not under the control of Azerbaijan and have international security guarantees.

The speech of the head of the diocese was followed by a musical evening with the participation of pianist Laurens Anahit Mkhitaryan, opera singer Maria Abayan Shamber and duduk player Vardan Hovhannisyan.

Representatives of the Belgian-Armenian community, Belgian politicians and public figures were present at the evening.

The event took place with the joint efforts of the “Munk” initiative of Germany, the European Armenian Office, the General Benevolent Union of Armenia, the Belgian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church and a number of other organizations.
