BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:50 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), alongside Liwaa Al-Quds (Palestinian paramilitary) and Liwaa Fatemiyoun (Iranian-Afghani paramilitary), resumed their offensive in Palmyra’s eastern countryside, Wednesday, striking the Islamic State (ISIL) forces along the main road to the key town of Sukhnah.

With help from the Russian Air Force, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies liberated the mountains overlooking the town ‘Arak and its corresponding gas fields, Wednesday, forcing ISIL to retreat from several points in order to avoid being overrun.

The Syrian Arab Army is expected to intensify their field operations in the Palmyra countryside in the coming days, as they look to expel ISIL from this desert region.
