The Mayor’s Office of Muradie Van in Western Armenia has started road construction works to facilitate visitors to the road leading to the Armenian Church of St. Stepanos, built in the 17th century. For a century, Mehmet Top, a lecturer at the Faculty of History of the University of Van, said that for a long time they have been studying and exploring the historical buildings of the district. Noting that the church is distinguished by its historical past and architectural features, Top said: “Some of these structures have survived to this day, and some have disappeared. It is noteworthy that the church has existed with its architectural features both inside and outside.” The church, which has historical significance, was destroyed due to natural conditions and people’s indifference.
