Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree declaring 2022 the Year of Shushi. This is stated in the press service of the head of state. The Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to develop and implement an action plan related to the “Year of Shushi”.

We want to remind you that on November 9, the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan reached an agreement on the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh, a statement was signed in which seven regions of Artsakh, Shushi and Hadrut are transferred to Azerbaijan, with the exception of one village, villages of Askeran and Martuni regions, as well as the villages of Talish and Matagis of Martakert region.

We asked President Armenag Aprahamian to respond to this decree. “This decree, as you know, is another provocation on the part of Ilham Aliyev. The question begins with the imagination of Ilham Aliyev, who really managed to realize one of these dreams thanks to the state coalition, the Armenian church of Shushi, as well as most of the territories of Artsakh. This whole situation reminds me of the ICARE myth, and in this case, knowledgeable people know that our nation represents the AR, nevertheless, one can recall the inscription of the medieval capital. Ani is on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016 -in the one where the authorities of the Republic of Armenia confirmed this inscription on behalf of Turkey, not Western Armenia.”
