On March 31, the Parliament of Cyprus unanimously ratified the decision to create a Deputy Minister of Culture as part of the Ministry of Education. Vardges Makhtesyan, the representative of the Armenian community in the House of Representatives of Cyprus, wrote about this on his Facebook page. “The creation of a new deputy minister concerns the preservation of the cultural heritage of three communities of national and religious minorities – Armenians, Maronites and Latins. On behalf of the Armenian colony of Cyprus, I express warm feelings of gratitude to all members of Parliament for this decision” he wrote.
