In West Jerusalem, the Armenian Patriarchate has public estates, where there are about 160 enterprises, and the monastery lives on the income of these enterprises. There are rumors that Patriarch Nurhan Manukyan wants to lease these estates to businessmen for 99 years, but without the decision of the monks, the patriarch cannot lease the estates, and if he does, the patriarchate is in the hands of unreliable leaders.

If the above-mentioned public estates are leased, then the Patriarchate, instead of the rent received from the business, will receive an annual fee from builders who will rent the territory, which will amount to less money.
