Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is on a working visit to the United States, met with US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland on May 2. Ararat Mirzoyan and Victoria Nuland exchanged views on regional security and stability. The course of implementation of the agreements reached between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Sochi and Brussels was discussed. 

During the meeting the situation in Artsakh was touched upon, as well as the process of launching negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan on a comprehensive peace agreement. In this context, the Armenian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of resuming work on the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship. The humanitarian problems caused by the 44-day war were discussed, in particular, the immediate release and repatriation of Armenian captives of war and other detained people, the preservation of the Armenian cultural and religious heritage in the territories that came under the control of Azerbaijan. The Armenian Foreign Minister presented the latest developments related to the settlement process of Armenia-Turkey relations.
