At the European Greco-Roman Wrestling Youth Championship in Rome, the representative of Armenia Albert Vardanyan won a bronze medal in the 130 kg weight category. His opponent was the Turk Talip Ciftci, whom the Armenian wrestler defeated with a score of 7:0. Albert Vardanyan in the opening match with a score of 2:3 lost to Ukrainian Mikhailo Vishnevsky, who reached the final. Albert Vardanyan in the consolation match with a score of 9:0 defeated Artur Sargsyan representing the Czech Republic, and got the right to fight for the bronze medal.
