On the left bank of the Tartar River, to the right of the path descending to the river from the site called “Khanagya” of the village of Mets Shen, a granite rock rises. There is very little more inaccessible force than nature has created in the world of Artsakh. Having strengthened this impregnable force of nature with artificial structures, they turned it into a fortress. On three sides it was surrounded by waters of Turghin and Tartar. From these waters came the name of the fortress “Jraberd”.
