The future of the Artsakh village of Aghavno is under threat again. Aghavno is of strategic importance in its location along the Berdzor corridor, serving as a gateway from Armenia to Artsakh. However, today the village, together with the city of Berdzor and the village of Sus, is facing the threat of extinction. President of Artsakh Arayik Harutyunyan, referring to the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, said that we must leave Berdzor and that our compatriots have few opportunities to live there. About Agavno, A. Harutyunyan said: “We will continue our struggle for Aghavno.” Meanwhile, Azerbaijani media reports on the ongoing construction of an alternative road linking Armenia with Artsakh. The 32-kilometer road will most likely be guarded by Russian peacekeepers, and the Armenian settlements along the Lachin corridor will pass to Azerbaijan. Western Armenia calls on Armenians living in Berdzor to defend their rights and remember that they are indigenous Armenians living there.
