The fate of the carpets transferred and rescued from Shushi by the efforts of the founding director of the Shushi Carpet Museum Vardan Astsatryan is again unknown. The carpets were temporarily sheltered by  the A. Tamanyan National Museum-Institute of Architecture, and it is unclear what will happen next, where they will be stored and exhibited. Recently, the issue was also discussed in the Public Council, which was attended by the representative of the  RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Garnik Momjyan. Vardan Astsatryan noted that the discussion was “difficult” and the question was raised again why carpets are not transported to Artsakh. Astsatryan considered it necessary to clarify that in this case, when the status of Artsakh is unclear, it is extremely risky to transfer this heritage to Artsakh.
