Residents of Arek village, Kygh province, Byurak province, Western Armenia, have been fighting against the mining project for 11 years. They accidentally found out about the approval of the project and are determined to fight mining operations that pose a great danger to the environment. The project, previously adopted by the government’s decision, but canceled as a result of the protest of the residents of Arek village of Kygh district, has been reconfirmed. This mining project starts in Dersim and threatens various regions of Western Armenia. In fact, the government’s profit-seeking policy directly threatens the health of the people and generates environmental problems, in particular, the territories between Byurakn and Dersim. Western Armenia is against those processes that harm the ecology of Western Armenia.
