The head of the Crisis Management Department of the Western Atrpatakan province of Iran said that 95% of the water of Lake Urmia has dried up. According to him, over the past more than two decades, the lake level has decreased annually by an average of 40 centimeters. Jafari noted that the central and provincial authorities are determined to revive the lake. Lake Urmia is the largest lake in the Armenian Highlands. Lake Urmia was also named Kaputan.
