As part of the “First Festival of swimming in Van”, organized by the Municipality of Van, athletes and nature activists who arrived in the city, in addition to participating in the festival, visited the sights and historical sites of Van. On the third day of the festival, they visited the Armenian monastery of St. Thomas, built in the 11th century in the Altynsach district of Gevash province, which is literally abandoned. Wanting to be photographed, they climbed the walls and dome of the monastery. The Mayor’s Office on its website presented this photo with the inscription “the festival of swimming in Van continues with colorful images.” This is another case of desecration of Armenian monasteries, which is recorded by Western Armenia. In this regard, we draw the attention of international structures.
