
On July 27, RA Deputy Prime Minister Hambartsum Matevosyan received the President of the UN General Assembly Abdullah Shahid and the delegation headed by him. According to the Deputy Prime Minister’s office, the meeting was also attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Vahe Gevorgyan, acting UN Permanent Coordinator in Armenia Lila Peters Yahyan and others. The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed Abdullah Shahid on his first visit to Armenia and called it symbolic, since this year marks the 30th anniversary of our country’s accession to the UN. During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister touched upon the need for the involvement of the UN in addressing humanitarian needs in Artsakh, and then the Artsakh conflict, stressing in this context that Armenia is committed to a peaceful settlement of the Artsakh conflict under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship, which remains the only internationally authorized mediation format.
