Private archival document: Armenian edict of the King of Cilician Armenia Oshin Hetumian I of 1314 granting customs privileges to the merchants of Montpellier, France.
Accordingly, French merchants were granted the right to freely enter and trade in the ports of the Kingdom of Cilicia Armenia. This is further proof that Cilician Armenia was in fact an integral part of Europe in the Middle Ages and was part of the European common economic zone.
The document is kept in the Montpellier Municipal Archives.
