Hovsep Tokat has published a book about the city of Van, which is mentioned in the tradition of Armenian goldsmiths, which has now been published as a separate study under the title “The Vanished World of Van”.
In this study, the author examines the geographical, ethnographic and cultural peculiarities of the region, starting from the pagan regions to the role played by the administration of the Ottoman Empire.
Hovsep Tokat was born in the village of Chermak in the province of Qghi in Western Armenia and moved to Constantinople with his family at the age of seven. In the preface of the book, he mentions the great impressions that Van left in his heart and memory.
“It was an odyssey of research in the literature of history, the fruit of which was this book,” the author explains.
