Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross office have again visited Armenian prisoners held by the authorities in Baku. Zara Amatuni, head of the communication and prevention programs of the ICRC’s Armenian office, reported the information.
“The next visit took place in early March,” he said.
ICRC delegates visited the prisoners whose presence was officially recognized by the Baku authorities. This time, too, the captives had the opportunity to contact their relatives: send letters, talk on the phone and in person.
The ICRC representatives also assessed the health and detention conditions of the prisoners. As a reminder, the authorities in Baku are confirming that in 2020, 33 people were captured after the 44-day war. However, the official from Yerevan assures that their number is higher. According to human rights activists, 80 people are held in captivity by the Baku authorities.
