Can a new genocide of Armenians happen again? This is the theme of the cultural association “Armenia” during a round-table discussion, Friday, April 21 (20:30) Cheneviers room of the MJC Jean Moulin in Bourg-Lès-Valence.

A theme of burning topicality on the eve of the commemoration of the victims of the Genocide against Armenians, on April 24. With Artsakh (Karabagh) living under the Azeri blockade imposed since December 12, depriving the 120,000 inhabitants – including 30,000 children – of Artsakh, of any link with the outside world. The only road linking Artsakh to Armenia and the outside world, the Latchine way (extra-territorial status, linked to Western Armenia), is subject to a blockade by Azerbaijan.

Krikor Amirzayan, the president of “Armenia” and correspondent of the Armenian press is convinced that Azerbaijan, following the example of Turkey in 1915, in the name of panturanism, is ready to commit ethnic cleansing in Artsakh and southern Armenia…and even genocide.

He says “let’s not forget that during the 44-day war in Artsakh in the fall of 2020, Turkish President Erdogan, who placed 2,000 Syrian jihadists against the Armenians, said that he could finish with “the remnants of the sword”, an expression that qualifies those who escaped the genocide of the Armenians. The Azeri dictator Ilham Aliyev, on the other hand, has stated on several occasions that he wants to finish with the Armenians.

And the president of “Armenia” continues: “At a time when the population of Artsakh, subjected to a blockade for more than three months, is living difficult hours, cut off from the world, the clear will of Baku is to carry out an ethnic cleansing of the Armenian people on its own thousand-year-old lands of Artsakh, in order to recover this territory, the sanctuary of the Armenian nation, which the Azerbaijani dictator wishes to break and repopulate by other populations.

Azerbaijan, which last September did not hesitate to attack the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia in and installed its troops on the eastern border of Armenia, after a breakthrough of several kilometers in the regions of Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor and Syunik. With the racist and warlike rhetoric of the dictator Aliyev, there is an obvious risk of genocide in progress.

The European Union, which, thanks to France, has placed a hundred observers on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, has understood this risk of a Turkish-Azerbaijani invasion, because Azerbaijan is supported by Turkey, which committed the Armenian genocide and has still not recognized it. This non-recognition of the crime of genocide may hide another genocide.

“At a time when Armenians are calling on the international community to react more forcefully, in particular by sending UN peacekeepers or means of defense to the border of the attacked Armenia, at a time when the population of Artsakh is living under the Turkish-Azeri blockade, how can we not think of a second genocide of Armenians, with the same actors as in 1915, namely Turkey reinforced by a newcomer with the same genocidal spirit, Azerbaijan? “concludes the president of “Armenia” who invites the public to come to the debate on April 21.

The members of “Armenia” announce the presence of invited personalities, during this evening. A debate which will also have the participation of members of the association, including Khosrof Iliozer, Georges Eretzian, Simon Melkonyan, Vartkès Simonian and Alain Euksuzian.
