On April 28 the Defense Minister of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan received the newly appointed commander of Russian peacekeeping forces in Artsakh, Colonel General Alexander Lentsov. As reports “Armenpress” the news was published in Suren Papikyan’s Facebook page.

The statement says “I congratulated Colonel General Alexander Lentsov on the occasion of assuming his new position and wished him success in his peacekeeping mission. We discussed the operational situation and current problems around Artsakh, as well as a number of issues aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Artsakh in the area of responsibility of peacekeeping troops.

I stressed the importance of consistent implementation of all the points of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020 and efforts to open the Berdzor road as soon as possible.”

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin, Defense Attaché Colonel Igor Shcherbakov and former commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces in Artsakh Major General Andrey Volkov.

The government of Western Armenia reminds that the problem is not only to open the road to Berdzor, but also to return the territories occupied by Azerbaijani terrorists to Artsakh and thus to Western Armenia.
