On May 8, a meeting was held at the office of the representation of Western Armenia in Yerevan with members of the Patriotic Union of Shushi, and forcibly displaced persons from the city of Shushi.
Following the 44-day war in 2020, the forcibly displaced persons from the city of Shushi appealed to the government of Western Armenia and mandated the President of the Republic of Western Armenia, Mr. Armenag Abrahamian, to apply to the European Court of Human Rights to protect their rights.
During the meeting, the President of the Republic of Western Armenia Armenag Abrahamian, the Chairman of the Patriotic Union Movement of Shushi Ashot Harutyunyan and others delivered speeches.
The President spoke about the details of the application and the lawsuit against the Baku authorities on the basis of the complaints of the Shushi residents and the ongoing process in the European Court, and said that the first trials will start before the end of the year.
The political importance of this trial was stressed, as the government of Western Armenia has submitted the request for withdrawal of Azerbaijani invaders from the city of Shushi, which is located on its territory.
During the meeting the questions concerning the situation of the Shushi refugees were discussed in the framework of the topic, to which Mr. Armenag Abrahamian, President of the Republic of Western Armenia, answered with clear arguments.
