From the Facebook page of RA HRD we learn that HRD Anahit Manasyan presented the issues related to the violations of the rights of the residents of the border populations of RA to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

The message specifically states: “On May 11, Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan together with the delegation of the members of the interdepartmental commission had a meeting with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Maria Pejcinovich Burich. 

In his speech, the defender spoke about the issues related to the implementation of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. He stressed the importance of proper implementation of the norms on the prohibition of torture and other forms of ill-treatment, the right to personal freedom and other fundamental rights, as well as the need to exclude hate speech. Anahit Manasyan also presented to Maria Peychinovich Burich the violations of the rights of the border population of the Republic of Armenia as a result of the actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces, as well as the humanitarian situation resulting from the blocking of the Berdzor road by Azerbaijan and the installation of the checkpoint.
