The Save Karabakh Coalition called on Ignazio Cassis, head of Switzerland’s Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, to use the Swiss presidency of the UN Security Council to help the besieged people of Artsakh.
Specifically, the letter urged Cassis to “use the remaining few weeks of [his] presidency of the UN Security Council to advance a resolution” that would “protect the vulnerable Armenians of Artsakh and recognize their right to self-determination.
The letter states that in February, the Foreign Relations Committee of Switzerland’s Council of State passed a resolution urging Switzerland to work on a resolution in the UN Security Council that would end the blockade and ensure international humanitarian airlift to Artsakh.
The coalition urged Cassis to use the Committee on Foreign Relations resolution as a “political basis” for action in the UN Security Council
