
Among the 100 best-rated flatbreads in the world – 100 best-rated flatbreads in the Tasteatlas encyclopedia of local cuisine, traditional restaurants and authentic recipes from around the world, three Armenian breads are included: jengyal bread (69th place), matnakash (62nd place) and lavash (9th place).
According to the “Armenpress” report, the encyclopedia specifically mentions that jengyal bread is a recipe from Artsakh. Jengyal bread is a traditional Armenian flatbread, whose composition includes various spices and up to 20 types of green vegetables.
In 2014, lavash, “traditional bread preparation, significance and cultural manifestations in Armenia” was inscribed on UNESCO’s list of intangible heritage.
