
Weightlifter Garnik Cholakyan won a gold medal in the 61 kg category at the European U23 Weightlifting Championships in Bucharest, recording a total result of 255 kg (140 kg in the snatch and 115 kg in the push exercise). Cholakyan also won individual gold medals in both the snatch and push exercises.
Meruzhan Yeghoyan, representing Armenia in the 61 kg category, won the bronze medal in the U20 competition with a total result of 254 kg (110 kg in the snatch and 144 kg in the clean and jerk). Yeghoyan also won an individual silver medal in the clean and jerk exercise.
Seyran Khudanyan secured Armenia’s first medal at the championship in Bucharest, competing in the 55 kg category. In the U20 competition, Khudanyan finished third on the podium with a total result of 216 kg (95 kg in the snatch and 121 kg in the clean and jerk) and earned the bronze medal. Khudanyan also won an individual bronze medal in the clean and jerk exercise.
The European Youth Championships took place from July 23 to August 3.
