On October 6, the World Youth Sambo Championship began in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, with the participation of athletes from 26 countries.

Five Armenian athletes took part in the competition.

Unfortunately, junior wrestler weighing 53 kg Alik Mekinyan lost in the first match and was excluded from further competitions. Martin Manukyan and Mher Khachatryan also suffered defeats in the 58 and 79 weight categories, respectively.

Arsen Hayrapetyan (weight category 98 kg), who lost the first wrestling match as a result of a draw, performed successfully, then defeated his Dutch and Kazakh opponents and reached the final. In a tense fight, Arsen lost with a score of 3:1 to Russian Valery Gerasimenko, representing the FIAS-1 team, and was satisfied with the silver medal.

Mher Ohanyan performed brilliantly and won a gold medal in the youth category up to 71 kg.

Victory in the final with a score of 8:0 over the French, 4:1 over the Russian, 8:0 over the Kazakh and 3:1 over the Azerbaijani.
