
For now, Yerevan and Baku agree on most points of the peace treaty. This was stated by Baku Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov in a conversation with local media. According to him, Baku insists on signing the peace agreement.
According to the diplomat’s assessment, after the recent events in Artsakh, which he called “restoration of the territorial integrity of Baku”, the process of signing a peace agreement has become easier and the probability has increased .
It is worth noting that the Prime Minister of Eastern Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, announced today in the National Assembly that the three main principles of peace and regulation of relations with Azerbaijan have been agreed.
As a reminder, in 2021, the leader of Baku, Ilham Aliyev, announced his desire to sign a peace treaty with Eastern Armenia. In March 2022, Baku transmitted its five-point proposal on the normalization of relations to Yerevan. The Armenian side added corrections and sent its version. Since then, several rounds of negotiations have taken place between the parties at different levels.
Foreign Minister of Eastern Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan announced on September 13 that the Armenian side handed over to the Azerbaijani side the fifth edition of the agreement on the regulation of relations and the establishment of peaceful relations, they received new proposals from the Azerbaijani side.
