
Swedish Ambassador to Eastern Armenia Patrick Svensson visited Meghri during his visit to the Syunik region. While there, the ambassador met with representatives of the Vinet Women’s Resource Center in Meghri and became familiar with their activities in Eastern Armenia and the region. This was reported by the Swedish Embassy in Eastern Armenia.
At the “Meghri” checkpoint of the Armenian-Iranian border, the checkpoint management staff welcomed the ambassador, introduced him to the general area of the checkpoint and border operations.
The ambassador then traveled to Tatev, where community leader Samvel Lalayan and his team presented the local situation and the implemented development plans. The work of SALAR International, supported by Sweden, to strengthen democracy and good governance at the local level was also discussed.
At the end of the visit, the ambassador joined the patrol of the main operational base of the EU mission in Kapan, to witness the observers’ mission aimed at human security in the conflict-affected areas at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. ” says the message from the Swedish Embassy.
