Baku refused the meeting of the foreign ministers of Eastern Armenia and Baku, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeihun Bayramov, in Washington on November 20. The information is reported by Azerbaijani media, referring to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baku.

It is worth noting that James O’Brien, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, announced on November 15 during the hearing on Artsakh that Washington had stopped providing military and other aid to Baku, canceled a number of high-level visits and announced that until Yerevan, if there was no progress in the negotiations, there would be no settlement of bilateral relations.

“It is important to note that under these conditions we do not consider it possible to hold a meeting at the level of foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington. The United States is not a regional country and , through their actions and statements, they harm the transport security efforts of countries in the region,” the Baku Foreign Ministry said.

The department also stressed that Baku’s doors are closed to senior U.S. officials and called O’Brien’s comments “biased and biased” as well as “ineffective, unreasonable and unacceptable.”

Referring to the statement on the suspension of military aid to Baku, the Foreign Ministry emphasized that the American side itself has temporarily suspended the implementation of the 907th amendment of the “Freedom Assistance Act” (according to this amendment , the US government was prohibited from providing assistance to official structures in Baku, its operation being suspended every year since 2002), when Baku supported US efforts in the fight against terrorism after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 .

“It turns out that the United States has always considered Baku’s support as temporary, but we must not forget that history can repeat itself,” the message said.
