During an event organized at the US Embassy on November 20, Ambassador Christina Quinn announced the launch of the US Ambassador’s “Cultural Values Preservation Fund” program. The Foundation allocates a conservation grant of USD 175,000 for the purpose of carrying out conservation works at the Temple of the Assumption (4th-5th century) in Shirak Marz.

“It is an honor for us to contribute to the preservation of the Basilica Cathedral of Yereruyk through the US Ambassador’s Fund for the Preservation of Cultural Values and preserve this invaluable treasure of Armenian cultural heritage, making it available to the whole world and future generations,” Ambassador Quinn said.

In 2005, with the financing of the “Fund for the Protection of Cultural Values” of the US Ambassador in Armenia. Since then, 13 cultural preservation projects have been implemented, for which a total of 1.4 million USD was allocated. The project plan includes wall reinforcements, replacement of damaged stones, provision of a drainage system, improvement of the monument’s area and design of the exhibition area of monumental stones.

About 50 guests representing the cultural and educational spheres were present at the event organized at the embassy to announce the launch of the project. RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan addressed the audience on behalf of the RA government.

Among the recently implemented projects funded by the Foundation in Armenia are the conservation works of the Sanahin monastery complex in Lori Marz, Meghri St. Restoration of endangered frescoes of Hovhannes Church in Syunik Marz and preservation of Areni 1 Cave in Vayots Dzor Marz, informs from the US Embassy in Yerevan.
