Armenians from Tigranakert, Western Armenia, had to celebrate Easter this year in a café, as the only Armenian Church, St. Kirakos, was closed.
When St. Kirakos church in Tigranakert was repaired and the Islamized and secret Armenians living here and in nearby settlements gathered in this church. In 2015, 100 years after the Genocide against Armenians, Easter was celebrated by a group of thousands of Armenians.
After the Turkish-Kurdish conflict in 2015, Gavur region was completely destroyed and ruined. The St. Kirakos church also suffered and the entrance and exit from this region were forbidden.
This year, writer and historian also took part in a celebration ceremony with local Armenians, about 120 people.
