Tourism development works of Tortum waterfall in Karin, Western Armenia are continuing. The waterfall may be included on the UNESCO World Heritage List in near future.
In addition to being the largest waterfall in Western Armenia, it is one of the highest waterfalls in the world. The Tortum falls from a height of 48 m and is 21 meters wide. The governorate of Karin has prepared a project that will make this place even more famous.
As part of the project, it is planned to improve the stairs of the waterfall area, install diode lighting, build first-class cafes and restaurants, as well as build a space for citizens with disabilities to visit the waterfall.
The project aims to attract at least 500,000 tourists and provide jobs for 500 to 1,000 people.
