WESTERN ARMENIA – A petition has been launched in Yerevan to erect a statue of Woodrow Wilson in Yerevan.

A petition has been launched on Change.org to erect a monument in Yerevan, the capital of the Republic of Armenia, dedicated to Woodrow Wilson, an American prominent politician and the 28th President of the United States (1913-1921) .

The collection of signatures was initiated by political scientist Ara Papyan.

The justification states Woodrow Wilson’s undeniable role in the rescue of hundreds of thousands of Armenian orphans, as  well as about his arbitral award (November 22, 1920), which defines the borders of Western Armenia.

It should be noted that at this moment 2005 people have joined the signature collection.

President Woodrow Wilson has been awarded the title of “Justice for Armenia”.

The President of Western Armenia Armenak Abrahamyan welcomed this initiative of Ara Papyan and suggested that the installation of the statue be financed by Western Armenia. He also noted that he is ready to submit Ara Papyan’s draft to the parliament of Western Armenia as soon as possible.
