The head of the UN Commission of Inquiry on Syria, Paolo Sergio Pinherio, has stated that Turkey’s “Syrian National Army” group, sponsored by the latter, is committing war crimes in Kurdish areas of Syria.
Pinherio held a press conference and presented a 25-page report on research in Syria in the first half of 2020, which harshly criticized Turkey. According to that, the Turkish armed forces invaded the territory of Syria, looted and destroyed the structures of historical and cultural value, which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
As a result of the Syrian crisis, 9.3 million people in the country are deprived of food security and are starving. The report prepared by the commission will be submitted to the UN Human Rights Council.
