The third session of the EU-Armenia Partnership Council took place in Brussels on December 17, 2020.

The EU Office in Armenia informed Armenpress that the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Giuseppe Borrell was the chair of the session. The RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ara Ayvazyan headed the Armenian delegation.

Possible directions concerning the topic of relations between EU and Armenia were discussed during the session. The EU reaffirmed its full commitment to the joint agenda, as well as its readiness to assist Armenia in overcoming the challenges during the process of reformation.

The EU and Armenia also discussed the situation in Nagorno Karabakh and its surrounding territories after the cessation of hostilities on November 10, 2020.

The sitting of the EU-Armenia Partnership Council took place on the eve of the EU-Azerbaijan Cooperation Council meeting. “The meetings reaffirm the importance of the EU ‘s partnership with the regional countries, and the EU’ s assistance in restoring the region and the establishment of lasting peace,” the statement said.
