Norduz region of Van, Gyurpnar, Western Armenia is considered to be the last place having red trout in its rivers.The number of this fish species, which is in danger of extinction, has recently decreased. 

As the red trout is one of the most important genetic resources of fish living in the rivers of the Norduz region, its hunting is prohibited throughout the year due to the danger of extinction. 

The reason for the danger of extinction is prohibited hunting and destruction of rivers.

Twelve years ago the fish were 30 centimeters long and with large numbers in this region. But today they are both decreasing in number and the largest length reaches 10 centimeters.
