Public schools are operating regularly in almost all settlements of Artsakh.

Artsakh Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Mikael Hambardzumyan stated this in a conversation with “Armenpress”.

“As a result of the war, we lost 107 schools with 1.764 teachers and 8.155 students. There are now 110 schools in the settlements in the territory of Artsakh. Only the schools of Taguni community of Martuni, Kaler and Sznek village of Askeran do not operate due to being on the border.

There are schools operating in Hin Shen and Yeghtsahogh from the settlements under the control of Artsakh in the Shushi region while the school in Mets Shen is still closed due to the lack of students. There are currently 2 students in Lisagor, according to the school principal, the number of schoolchildren will increase in the near future. Only the Aghavno school operates in the Kashatagh region, where only a small number of students from Sus can temporarily attend. As far as I know, there are also school children in Berdzor. “For now, they will go to Aghavno school by cars until the issue of Berdzor’s status is decided”, the deputy minister said.
