Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Ankara Liu Shaobin has been summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry. The reason is a post on the Twitter page of the Chinese embassy in Ankara, the Turkish leadership was worried about.
On April 5, Meral Aksener, the leader of the nationalist Turkish opposition İYİ Parti parti opposed China’s territorial integrity on twitter. “East Turkestan (Western Territories of China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region) will one day become independent.”
Opposition mayor of Ankara Mansur Yavas called the incident in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region 31 years ago a “massacre.”
In response to the posts of Turkish politicians, the following post was made on the Twitter page of the Chinese Embassy.
“The Chinese side strongly opposes and strongly condemns any challenge by any person or force to China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
The post also mentioned Aksener and Yavash’s Twitter accounts.
