The exploitation of the quarry opened on the shore of Lake Van in Western Armenia has caused a great response among the citizens. The residents, responding to the opening of the quarry created on the public shore of Lake Van, noted. “The quarry is an injustice towards the nature of Gavash and people in general.”

Citizens warn that the quarry built in the area of Gavash province of Van will not only destroy the area from which water can enter, but will also dry the surrounding water resources. The quarry, 300 meters from the lake, has got a license. 

Citizens who are against the quarry to be operated, want the license and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to be revoked and the mine to be closed.

Let us remind that Gavash is a province in Van, Western Armenia. Gavash is located in the North of Lake Van. The Historical Vostan is the center.
