June 1 is International Children’s Day. This day was established in 1949 by the International Women’s Democratic Federation in Paris. The holiday was first celebrated in 1950.

Armenia ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1990, and the RA Law on the Rights of the Child was adopted in 1996. The holiday is celebrated in all the regions of the republic and festivities are held everywhere.

Another holiday is also celebrated today – World Parents’ Day, which was proclaimed at the 66th session of the UN General Assembly in September 2012. Since 2013, the first day of summer is celebrated annually in honor of all parents of the world.
