MOSCOW – The painting “Off the Coast of Yalta” by world-renowned Armenian marine artist Hovhannes Aivazovsky will be one of the main highlights of a major art auction to be held in Moscow on July 26.
According to the auction organizers, the painting is valued at approximately $420,000, making it one of the most expensive works offered for sale.
The auction will also feature works by renowned Russian artists Konstantin Makovsky, Nicholas Roerich, Mikhail Nesterov, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, Boris Grigoriev, Boris Kustodiev, and others. The total estimated value of the collection is approximately 1 billion rubles.
Hovhannes Aivazovsky was born in 1817 in Feodosia, Crimea, and gained worldwide recognition for his exceptional paintings of seascapes, storms, and coastal landscapes. More than a century later, his works continue to enjoy great demand in the international art market, selling for high prices.
