Armenian-American director Bared Maronian has presented his new documentary, Genocide 2.0, which addresses the 2020 Artsakh war, the blockade imposed by Azerbaijan, the 2023 ethnic cleansing, and their consequences.
The film is the concluding installment of Maronian’s trilogy of documentaries dedicated to the genocide committed against Armenians. According to the director, the title Genocide 2.0 emphasizes the modern and systematic repetition of history, while the film focuses on the survivors—their stories and resilience.
Maronian created a preliminary version of the film as part of the Faces of Persecution documentary series. In 2024, a seven-minute version of the film was nominated for a Suncoast Regional Emmy Award.
