The cultural relations between Armenians and Iranians have been established for thousands of years, but in the last thirty years, these relations entered a new stage , gained new meaning and significance due to mutual recognition.

Since ancient times, Iran has been accepted as a homeland for Armenians, a country where Armenians consider themselves both Armenians and Iranians, and, preserving their identity, have become intertwined with Iranian society.

Mehdi Sobhani, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary  Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressed this opinion in Eastern Armenia at the conference dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the famous Iranian-Armenian painter Andre Sevrugyan in Matenadaran.

"We highly value this role and consider it a valuable social capital for the deepening of friendship between the Iranian and Armenian peoples. O Hafez, if you want to reach your lover, you must be humble, virtuous and perfect in front of people. Long live Armenia, long live Iran," Mehdi Sobhani, Iran's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Eastern Armenia, concluded his greeting speech.
