
Turkish attacks continued, becoming more violent.
On December 3, the enemy moved towards Zeytun in three main directions and had considerable success at first. However, at the crucial moment, the 75-year-old Prince Karapet Basilosian, who had initially opposed the uprising, left the barracks with a steed and rushed towards the enemy. This shocked the mountaineers, who, following the prince, rushed into a mad attack. In fierce battles, the Turks suffered heavy losses, making a large number of killed and wounded. These battles were of great importance for the rebellion. The plan of Ramzi Pasha to capture Zeytun with a strong attack failed. The offensive initiatives of the latter also failed. Despite the fierce bombardment, Zeytun remained impregnable. In 1896 From 22 to 30 January, peace talks were held in the Turkish camp with the mediation of the consuls of European powers. As victors, the people of Zeytun presented their conditions. The sultan finally had to give in, accepting mainly the conditions of the Zeytuntsis.
The heroic uprising in Zeytun revealed the damage done to the liberation movement by the disunited actions of the parties involved in the struggle against the Turkish dictatorship.
