For centuries, Artsakh has been the homeland of its indigenous Armenian population, serving as one of the important cradles of faith, culture, and national identity. For thousands of years, the Armenian people preserved their presence on this historic land, creating a rich spiritual, cultural, and civilizational heritage.

However, as a result of the ethnic cleansing carried out by Azerbaijan in 2023, Artsakh was completely depopulated of Armenians. For the first time in history, the region was left without its indigenous Armenian population, interrupting a continuous presence that had lasted for millennia.

These tragic events represent not only the destruction of human destinies, but also a serious blow to the historical and cultural heritage of the region. Despite the forced displacement, Artsakh continues to remain an inseparable part of the Armenian people’s historical memory, identity, and struggle for justice.

It is noteworthy that as early as 1895, the book Artsakh was published in the Armenian language in Baku, once again testifying to the Armenian historical and cultural presence in the region.
