Information concerning khachkars and frescoes removed from Dadivank has been included in INTERPOL’s “Stolen Works of Art” database. Sergey Shahverdyan reported this in a publication, emphasizing that such developments require systematic documentation and international protection of Artsakh’s cultural heritage.
It is proposed that complete catalogs of the collections of museums and galleries in Artsakh that have come under Azerbaijani control be reconstructed, including photographs of objects, inventory numbers, descriptions, authorship, dating, and information about their provenance.
At the same time, it is necessary to create a unified documentary database of khachkars, frescoes, monuments, and other examples of monumental art remaining in Artsakh. Such work could provide an important basis for the international protection of cultural heritage.
The article also emphasizes the need for continuous professional cooperation with international organizations, including INTERPOL, UNESCO, and ICOM. According to the publication, the protection of Artsakh’s cultural heritage should be carried out not by merely responding to individual statements, but through a long-term and systematic policy.
