The historic “Hagia Sophia,” located in the Yakutiye district of Karin and built as a Greek Orthodox church in the 19th century, has reopened to worshippers and visitors following restoration.

During the 2024–2026 restoration, the “Pantocrator” fresco of Jesus Christ, which had remained covered for years, was uncovered inside the building, surrounded by depictions of the Four Evangelists.

Today, the historic structure functions as a mosque; however, the preserved Christian fresco and the church’s architectural features continue to bear witness to Karin’s multilayered cultural heritage.
