Conservation and restoration work continues in Ani, the historic capital of medieval Armenia, with the goal of reinforcing the cathedral and preserving its remaining monuments. Archaeological research is also ongoing, while the restoration is based on the scholarly works of Toros Toramanian and Nikolai Marr. Since its inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016, Ani has remained one of the world’s most significant cultural heritage sites.
