The silver wine cup created on May 4, 1905, in Van (Western Armenia) by the Van master craftsman Dikran (Tigran) is considered one of the remarkable examples of Armenian jewelry art.
The cup is made of silver using the complex niello (savat) technique, characteristic of Armenian masters from Van. The inner surface and certain details of the base are gilded, emphasizing its high level of craftsmanship.
The central medallion of the piece depicts the Monastery of Saint Bartholomew, located in the Vaspurakan province of Western Armenia, one of the important monuments of Armenian spiritual heritage. The name of the monastery is also engraved on the cup in Armenian.
The original seals of the master, preserved on the bottom of the piece in Armenian and Ottoman languages, testify to the period of production and authorship.
This cup is not only an example of applied art, but also a bearer of historical memory, reflecting the high mastery of Armenian jewelers of Van and the rich cultural heritage of the region.
