Margar Sedrakyan, born in 1907 in the village of Kharakonis in Van, lost his parents during the genocide committed against Armenians and grew up in Armenian orphanages. He later became one of the renowned master blenders of the Yerevan Brandy Factory, bringing Armenian brandy production to a new level through his exceptional professional expertise.

Among Sedrakyan’s famous blends were the “Dvin,” “Nairi,” “Akhtamar,” and “Jubilee” brandies, which received high international recognition. His professional mastery contributed to establishing the international reputation of Armenian brandy.

During the 1945 Yalta Conference, Winston Churchill was served “Dvin” brandy created by Margar Sedrakyan, which linked the name to the history of Armenian brandy’s international recognition.

Margar Sedrakyan’s life story is one of the remarkable examples of the resilience and creative strength of the generation that survived the genocide committed against Armenians.
